The Kano State House of Assembly has against the wishes of the players of Kano Pillars reinstated controversial Ibrahim A. Musa as head coach of the NPFL club.
Kano Pillars spokesman Idris Malikawa disclosed that Musa has been hired till the end of the new season.
This was after the contract of the coach ran out last year and it was not renewed.
Following previous report that the Kano State speaker Alhassan Rurum was pushing for the reinstatement of the coach, who failed to lead Pillars to a historic Aiteo Cup triumph last year, when Enugu Rangers fought back from 3-0 down to win the cup competition.
The speaker later denied this, but at the same time added the assembly’s sports committee was in a better position to comment on the issue.
Coach Musa said he appreciated the Kano State Government for returning him to his former post, while promising to lift Kano Pillars to a higher level.
“I want to make Pillars champions,” vowed the coach.
“We were third on the league table before the season was halted last year and we lost in the Aiteo Cup final.”
Musa alleged after Pillars lost the cup final after some of his players were bribed to throw the game.
