Plateau United captain, Elisha Golbe, has acknowledged the challenging nature of their upcoming final game of the season against Enyimba, recognizing the difficulty of securing a win against a side that is also vying for a continental slot next season.
In his comments ahead of the match, Golbe highlighted the significance of the game and Plateau United’s determination to come away with a positive result despite the formidable task that lies ahead.
“We are still pushing because even Enyimba are contenders too. They are looking for the continental slot as well, and you know it’s definitely going to be a very difficult match because they are playing at home,” Golbe remarked.
Despite acknowledging the challenge, Golbe expressed confidence in his team’s preparation and their readiness to compete against the former champions.
“So, we as a team are training and preparing well for the match, and by God’s grace, I think after 90 minutes, everything will be settled by God’s grace,” he added.
Reflecting on their season, Golbe noted the team’s strong performance in the first round and the natural fluctuations in form that are part of the sport. He emphasized that despite recent setbacks, Plateau United remains a contender for a continental spot, and the final match could still alter their fortunes significantly.
“The first round we did very, very well, but the performance was not like the first round. But you know sometimes it happens in football. You must have your good and bad days. But I think not that we only lost one match at home. But definitely, we are still contenders and the league is not yet over despite it is just only one match to go. But I think one match can change everything around,” Golbe noted.
The upcoming game against Enyimba, who are also in contention for a continental berth, adds an extra layer of intensity to the final fixture of the season. With both teams aiming to secure their positions in next season’s continental competitions, the match promises to be a fiercely contested battle.
