Ex Nigerian international Joseph Yobo has revealed to footballlive.ng that he is pleased with the competition in the defensive line up of the Super Eagles which boasts of players plying their trade in Europe’s top flight including England, Spain, Italy, Germany, and Turkey.
With Nigerian defenders playing actively and regularly for clubs in the La Liga, Seria A, English Premier League Turkish Super Lig and the Bundesliga II, the former Eagles captain said he is excited to see the players thriving in their various clubs.
Speaking with footballlive.ng, Yobo insists that the defense is one of the powerhouses of any team. “In football, it is good to see the defenders thriving at this moment because it is a strong base of any team. If you don’t have a good defense, then you’re in trouble.
For me, I’m really happy about what they are doing. Omeruo played with me I’m really happy seeing him start to fulfill his potential, he is a really good defender he is someone I tipped to take over from me I’m just happy that he is doing really well in Spain.
Aside Omeruo, Yobo has also praised the impact of the other two central defenders in the team; “Balogun and Ekong they have done well. It is always good to have solid defenders with good competition when one goes out another comes in at the moment am very happy with them.”
