Rangers International Football Club of Enugu and their fans gathered at Okpara Square, Enugu, on Monday evening to celebrate their 2023/2024 Nigeria Premier Football League (NPFL) victory.
The team, led by captain Chukwudi Nwaodu, manager Fidelis Ilechukwu, and General Manager/CEO Amobi Ezeaku, arrived in Enugu in grand style after their final league match in Jos, where they defeated Gombe United 2-1.
The win followed their decisive 2-0 victory over Bendel Insurance in Enugu during their week 37 encounter, which secured their title.
The celebration was attended by key figures, including Enugu State Commissioner for Youth and Sport, Lloyd Ekweremadu; Information and Communications Commissioner, Aka Eze Aka; MD of Afrinvest West Africa, Ike Chioke; Executive Chairman of Enugu State Tourism Board, Rita Mbah; and Rangers legends like Emmanuel Okala. A crowd of fans, led by Emmanuel Okoh, aka Okwuluora, also joined the festivities.
Amobi Ezeaku expressed gratitude to the fans, “First, this is victory, not only for Rangers, but for Ndi Enugu and the entire Ndigbo. The only support we did not get was probably the one we did not ask for”.
Amobi assured the crowd that Rangers International would continue to strive for excellence, aiming to retain the title next season.
“However, the truth is that the journey has just begun, because the victory called for more work. We have to work harder and get even more prepared for the journey ahead. But we are the Never Say Die team. So, we assure you that we will continue to make you proud. We will retain this title next season because it has come to stay”.
“To our supporters, the doors of the Rangers office will be open for the next month to allow fans to celebrate with the trophy and take pictures,” Ezeaku stated on the club’s dedication to its fanbase.
Amobi also mentioned the club’s plans for the fans to celebrate the victory, saying, “Going into continental competitions, rest assured that we will make you proud.”
