Raphael Onyedika and Club Brugge faced a disappointing outcome as they failed to secure a spot in the UEFA Europa Conference League Final, falling short against Fiorentina.
The Belgian club suffered a 4-3 aggregate defeat at home, with Fiorentina sealing the victory with a late penalty.
Club Brugge captain Hans Vanaken shared how disappointed the team felt after the loss to Fiorentina.
“In the semi-finals, you just want to go to the final. If you don’t make it, then there is, of course, disappointment,” Vanaken revealed, describing the mood in the dressing room.
Vanaken revealed the team’s determination to shift focus to the Belgian Championship playoffs. Currently leading the playoffs, Club Brugge aims to dominate and maintain their strong performance in domestic competitions.
“I think we can look back with great pride on our European campaign. And we now have everything to play for in those last three games of the playoffs,” Vanaken stated, highlighting the team’s determination to bounce back and focus on securing the domestic league.
Raphael Onyedika was absent in the match due to the red card he picked up in the first leg against Fiorentina.
