Rio Olympic hero Sadiq Umar scores first goal for Perugia

Nigerian international Sadiq Umar scored his first goal for his new club Perugia in a hard fought 3 – 2 away win over 14thplaced Venezia in the Italian Serie B on Wednesday.

Umar joined the Serie B side on loan from Roma in January, returning to Italy after an unsuccessful loan spell in the first half of the season to Scottish giant Rangers FC.

Umar scored his first goal for Perugia when he opened the scoring for the away side as early as the 12 minute.

Jacopo Secre got the equalizer for Venezia in the 38th minute of the encounter but Perugia wasted no time in scoring two extra goals before the end of the first half. Valero Verri extended the lead in the 40th minute while a goal from Federico Melchiorri in the 44th minute but an own goal from Gian Filoppo Feliciolli reduced the deficit.

This was also Umar’s first goal of 2019.
