Stanley Eguma, the technical adviser of Rivers United, expressed his disappointment at his team’s wastefulness despite their victory over Heartland. Ukeme Williams scored the decisive goal, securing maximum points for Rivers United at the Adokiye Amiesimaka Stadium in Port Harcourt on Sunday.
Eguma believed that his team should have capitalized on their dominance and converted more of their scoring chances. In a post-match interview, he stated, “We played well and we had a lot of scoring chances. If we had converted, it would have been more than one goal.” Despite the missed opportunities, Eguma commended his players for their efforts and acknowledged that securing three points was crucial.
“It’s a game we dominated from the beginning to the end but we were unlucky not to score more goals,” Eguma added. “But at least that one goal has given us three points and it’s ok. I thank our players for their effort and also our management.”
Rivers United currently sit on 31 points from 23 games this season.
