Super Eagles technical adviser, Gernot Rohr has projected that the Super Eagles will be a very formidable force at the next World Cup, as he says the array of young players in his current team would have matured by then.
Rohr admitted that his Eagles of Russia 2018 are inexperienced, which he said made them nervous during matches, but reckoned that they would be ripe at Qatar 2022 and could even stage a bold challenge for the trophy.
The Franco-German tactician explained that he is preparing a futurist Nigerian team for the 2022 World Cup in Qatar even if they progress from their group.
Rohr also acknowledged that his squad has no particular star player unlike other teams who are in the same group with the Super Eagles of Nigeria.
He stressed that the Eagles’ youthfulness is a major factor that made them underdogs in Russia, but mentioned team captain, Mikel Obi and Victor Moses as star players in the squad.
Rohr declared: “Why we don’t have star players? It’s because we are the youngest team of the World Cup.
“We have Obi Mikel, who is a very good player, you can tell that he is a star, we have Victor Moses who is well known everywhere but we have so many young players, they will be stars, I hope so.
“What we have is a team for 2022, because when you are so young, with the goalkeeper and all the other people, they will be better and better.”
