Rohr Promises Closer Attention To NPFL Players

Date:

Super Eagles coach, Gernot Rohr has promised that he will give closer attention to payers in the Nigeria Professional Football League (NPFL) and duly use any of them that is found to be outstanding.

Footballlive.ng can report that the Franco-German gaffer has been under fire in recent months for tending to overlook home-based players, but Rohr appears ready to turn a new leaf.

That sign emerged Wednesday when the former Gabon, Nigger Republic and Burkina Faso handler turned up at Agege Stadium, Lagos to watch home team, MFM FC beat visiting Enugu Rangers 1-0.

The Eagles’ gaffer said afterwards that he does not have anything against the domestic league and its players, but reiterated his worries that their fitness levels are affected when the championship is on hold.

Rohr expatiated: “I regret that the league had a long break after the last season, which affected the fitness of the players.

“But now that the league is on, myself and my assistants (will) watch out for the outstanding ones that can make the team.

“The ones that are good among them will surely be invited to the team. The best of them will play the match.

“We will invite the fittest players for the AFCON qualifiers against Seychelles and the friendly match against Egypt.

“With the level at which some of the players are now in their different clubs, I believe they should turn that form to the national team.”
