Super Eagles technical adviser, Gernot Rohr has stated delight with top form that is being displayed by his players, ahead of next Saturday’s match against South Africa.
With the November 17 encounter at FNB Stadium, Johannesburg ranking as a decisive fixture to determine Nigeria’s early qualification for next year’s Africa Cup of Nations in Cameroon, Rohr is glad to see his players hit top form before the game.
Footballlive.ng can report that the Franco-German tactician is happy that all the invited players for the battle in Jo’Burg are playing regularly with their clubs, as the defenders get prime time, midfielders are making waves and strikers raining goals.
Although Rohr admitted he will miss those who are injured, especially team captain, John Mikel Obi, top scorer Odion Jude Ighalo and number one goalkeeper Francis Odinaka Uzoho, the gaffer reckons those who are available will get the job done next Saturday.
The former Gabon, Niger Republic and Burkina Faso gaffer said he is excited when he watches Nigeria’s national players doing well with their clubs, and believes they will reenact such top form in the nation’s colours against Bafana Bafana.
Rohr declared: “I watch some of their games with their respective clubs and I am impressed with their performance.
“I am thrilled with the playing time my players are getting in their clubs in Europe. They are not only playing regularly, they are in good form and that is what I demand from them every week.
“They are doing very good and that is very well for us moving forward. If they continue like this, they will make the game against South Africa a bit easier.”
