The first half saw the Nigerian side score only goal against Libya, who had a lot of men behind the ball, while the midfield passing, also wasn’t up to the usual standard.
However in the second half, two goals from Odion Ighalo and Samuel Kalu guided the side to a comfortable win, which moved them to second place in Group E of the 2019 Africa Cup of Nations (AFCON) qualifiers with six points from three games.
Speaking afterwards to Footballlive.ng Rohr stated, “When we have more on the wings, we created the space. In addition, we were lucky that we scored immediately after the resumption. That helped. But after half time was just a lot better”.
“The first half was also an investment for the second. We made the Libyans run, leading to fatigue. There we could then benefit. Following the second goal came more space, therefore we could easily anticipate the 4-0.”
Odion Ighalo scored a hat-trick for the hosts who now occupy second spot in the group, a point behind South Africa who demolished Seychelles 6-0 in Soweto.
