With less than a week to the crucial 2019 Africa Cup of Nations qualifying double header against Libya on October 12 and 16 in Uyo and Tunisia, former Nigerian international Friday Elaho is confident the Super Eagles can win both games against the Mediterranean Knights but the coach’s team selection will be key to a positive result.
Nigeria shockingly lost the first match of the qualifying series at home to South Africa in 2017 and will need to gather as much points as possible to qualify for the AFCON in Cameroon, first time since 2013.
Friday Elaho said “I think we have the material to prosecute the game and this stage is very crucial for the country and I don’t think we have to take the game lightly. If we draw it will be disastrous for us so our primary aim is to beat Libya we’ll move up the 2019 AFCON Qualifiers table.
The coach’s selection will be key to our performance so Rohr must ensure that he plays the best players
Failing to qualify for the nation’s cup since 2013 is really disturbing, we call ourselves African giants so if we can’t make it this time then it is a shame on us. So this time around we need to put our acts together and come out in flying colours.”
