The much expected arrival of Rio 2016 Olympics bronze medallist, Sadiq Umar at Glasgow Rangers is about to be confirmed, following the youngster’s arrival in the Scottish capital.
Umar had been cited in a deal arranged by the club’s new coach, Steven Gerrard, only to face so agreement hitches between his parent club, AS Roma of Italy and NAC Breda, where he played on loan last season.
However, with all thorny issues apparently sorted out, Umar has arrived in Scotland, as he gets set to seal another loan deal to Rangers from Roma.
The lure of working with the former Liverpool captain swayed Umar to agree on a move to the Scottish Premiership side, despite interest in his services from some leading teams in Belgium, Holland and Italy.
Last season he had two separate spells, first with Torino before terminating the deal in January for another loan move to NAC Breda of Holland, where he scored six goals in ten league games to help them beat the drop.
Umar first landed in England on Thursday and spent a night there before leaving for Scotland early Friday, to have a medical before the completion of a season long loan deal.
