Arsenal youth team duo, Bukayo Saka and Arthur Okonkwo have both signed professional contracts at Emirates Stadium, where footballlive.ng learnt they will now remain strong future prospects with The Gunners.

Saka, a buzzing defender, and Okonkwo, a promising goalkeeper, have now both been assured of progressions through Arsenal’s grades to the main team, following official confirmation of their first professional contracts.

Last season, Saka was a key member of Arsenal’s under-18 side that reached the final of the FA Youth Cup and finished second in the U18 Premier League South, while Okonkwo trained with the first team before their League Cup match with Doncaster Rovers.

Both players celebrated their 17th birthdays this month and represented England’s under-18 team at the12th Limoges Tournament in France.

Arsenal academy manager, Per Mertesacker said he is happy for the development, as The Gunners’ former captain is rating Ska and Okonkwo very high for the future.

The German ex-international said: ”Bukayo and Arthur are talented players, who have both excelled through our Hale End Academy.

”We are delighted that they have signed their first professional contracts with us and we look forward to supporting them further through their development.”
