Arsenal youth team winger, Bukayo Saka was on song at the weekend, but his effort was not enough to save his side from a 2-1 loss to West Bromwich Albion’s under-18 squad.
Both sides were engaged in a fifth round fixture of the English FA Youth Cup on Saturday afternoon, but footballlive.ng reports that Saka’s goal on the half hour mark could not save the day for Arsenal.
Saka hit home an equaliser, as he reacted fastest to a free-kick to romp the ball into the net from close range, but The Baggies roared back for the winning goal midway through the second half.
There was still enough time for Arsenal to launch another recovery, but their aspirations fell flat when Saka’s fellow-Nigerian-born lad, Folarin Balogun to headed just wide in the 87th minute.
Also in action for Arsenal at Meadow Park were kid goalkeeper, Arthur Okonkwo, as well as Mazeed Ogungbo, Xavier Amaechi and new contract signing, James Olayinka.
Dramatically, Saka almost got a brace, but was denied by the crossbar, while Balogun and Amaechi also missed opportunities of netting later on, as The Gunners suffered a very agonizing FA Youth Cup ouster.
