AC Milan forward Samuel Chukwueze could be on his way out of the club, with several top teams reportedly interested ahead of the January transfer window.
The former Villarreal winger has struggled to find his footing since joining AC Milan, in 2023 prompting speculation of a potential move.
Chukwueze arrived at Milan last season in a deal worth €20 million plus bonuses.
Despite his high-profile arrival, the Nigerian international has had difficulty adapting to life in Italy, managing just 3 goals and 3 assists in 33 appearances so far.
This season initially held promise for Chukwueze, as he impressed during preseason with solid performances and even assured fans that they were about to witness his best form. However, the winger’s struggles have continued, and he has yet to contribute a goal or assist in six appearances this season.
AC Milan head coach Paulo Fonseca, in a recent press conference, provided insight into Chukwueze’s challenges at Milan.
“He had a very good pre-season when he had space against big teams. When we arrived here, against Torino and Lazio, I think Chukwueze was not as good as in the pre-season.
It’s not a problem of quality but of confidence. He needs to gain confidence and play in this context: in Serie A he has no space, he has to make movements at the right time.”
Although Chukwueze’s contract with AC Milan runs until June 2028, reports suggest that the 24-year-old could be on the move during the upcoming winter transfer window.
Clubs such as Atletico Madrid, West Ham, and Aston Villa have been linked to the winger, according to Les Transferts.
A return to La Liga or a move to the Premier League could provide the fresh start he needs to rediscover his form.
