Samuel Eto’o Faces Allegations of Match-Fixing, Threats, and Misconduct as Cameroon Football Federation President

Date:

Cameroonian football legend Samuel Eto’o, currently serving as the president of the country’s football federation (Fecafoot), is embroiled in controversy as allegations of match-fixing, abuse of power, physical threats, and other misconduct come to light.

Former Fecafoot vice president Henry Njalla Quan Junior submitted a dossier to FIFA’s Ethics Committee in July 2023, supported by WhatsApp messages, emails, letters, and audio recordings, detailing accusations against Eto’o and associates.

The claims range from arranging match-fixing to violating FIFA’s ethics code by endorsing a gambling company. The investigation, active with the CAF (African Football Federation) as well, questions Eto’o’s tenure and governance in Cameroonian football.

Evidence has been seen suggesting Eto’o’s involvement in manipulating officials, raising concerns about the integrity of the sport in Cameroon.
