Girondins-Bordeaux of France winger, Samuel Kalu is back in training with the Ligue 1 club, and looks good to feature for them in the UEFA Europa League this Thursday.
Footballlive.ng can report that this is in contrast with initial reports that ruled the former KAA Gent of Belgium youngster out for at least two weeks, after he copped a knock in training.
That would have kept Kalu out of action with the Super Eagles away to South Africa in next Saturday’s Africa Cup of Nations qualifier, but he is now on course to honour Nigeria’s call.
Things are looking up again for Kalu, after reassuring reports emerged from France indicating that his injury troubles are behind him.
Kalu trained normally with his teammates on Monday and is in line to line out with the squad in their Europa League match against Zenit Pettersburg of Russia.
This is a welcome change to the previous situation, in which Kalu was omitted from Bordeaux’s squad for the trip to Olympique Lyon due to a throat-related ailment.
Consequently, Kalu, who started Nigeria’s last three matches in the AFCON 2019 qualifiers, will now be expected to replicate the form he showed with the Eagles against Seychelles and Libya in the upcoming decisive fixture versus Bafana Bafana at FNB Stadium, Johannesburg.
