Semi Ajayi’s scores brace in Rotherham’s hard-fought win over Blackburn Rovers.

Super Eagles defender Semi Ajayi continued his form in front of goal as he scored a brace for Rotherham United in a 3 -2 home win in the English Championship against Blackburn Rovers on Saturday.

With the team currently 22nd on the table and hoping to survive the season, the boys from South Yorkshire took the game to the visitors with Semi Ajayi heading home the opener as early as the 2ndminute of the match with the home side taking the early lead to the end of the first half.

The home team was shocked with an equalizer in the 51st minute by Amari’I Bell but their goal only lasted six minutes as Rotherham took back the lead in the 56th minute through Ray Williams in the 57th minute while Ajayi got his second of the encounter in the 83rd minute with another well-taken header. Charles Mulgrew scored a 90th-minute penalty for the away side but it was not enough to earn them a point.

Reacting to the game and goals scored, the Nigerian international on his Instagram handle wrote; “GOLAZOOOO X2. What a win that was today! 6 Games unbeaten 3 goals in 2 Games. Thank you, God.”

The Nigerian defender has scored three goals in his last two games for the club and four in the last seven games making him one of the highest scoring Nigerian players in Europe in 2019.
