Shehu Rules Self Out Of AFCON Qualifiers Second Leg

Date:

Bursaspor of Turkey defender, Shehu Abdullahi has ruled himself out of the second leg of Nigeria’s double-clash with Libya in the Africa Cup of Nations qualifiers.

Following an injury that knocked him out early from the first leg in Uyo on Saturday, footballlive.ng can report that Shehu has already passed a verdict on himself for the reverse fixture in Sfax, Tunisia.

Even before Eagles gaffer, Gernot Rohr accepted that Shehu and Eddy Ogenyi Onazi would not be able to play Tuesday’s game in Sfax, the fair-skinned right-back disclosed what he thinks of his chances of making the cut.

Shehu stated on social media: “Great to get the 3 points and help the team. Unfortunately my injury has ruled me out of the next game but I’m sure my ???? will continue to soar! #CAN2019.”

Trabzonspor’s Onazi suffered a training ground injury on Thursday while Shehu had to make way for Ola Aina after 19 minutes in Saturday’s match in Uyo due to injury, and Rohr has now agreed that both Turkey-based stars will not be available for him on Tuesday

”Abdullahi Shehu suffered a muscle contraption in the quadriceps on his right leg during the game. It was not a groin injury. He’s going to be out of action for the second game.

”We also lost Ogenyi Onazi who has an inflammation on his Achilles. He won’t be traveling with us to Tunisia. We have 22 players for the second game in Tunisia,” Rohr added.
