Summer arrival at Levante of Spain, Moses Simon has been cast in doubt for the club’s opening match of the new season in La Liga, following yet another injury blight.
Though the velvety winger hit the ground running on arrival from KAA Gent of Belgium, and was even in top form during two pere-season matches for Levante, he has been hit with a reoccurrence of the same fitness issues that bedevilled him at his former base and with the Super Eagles.
The 23-year-old Simon, who missed Nigeria’s squad to the 2018 World Cup in Russia due to injury, picked up a muscle complaint in the club’s pre-season win over Real Zaragoza.
After failing to recover from the knock since last weekend, Levante have now confirmed that Simon is doubtful for their opening day league clash against Real Betis on Friday at Estadio Benito Villamarín in Sevilla.
Levante noted in a statement: “The medical tests carried out on Moses Simon confirmed that the attacker has some muscular discomfort in the quadriceps of the right leg.
“These discomforts came from the game he played against Real Zaragoza at the Stadium of La Romareda during the past weekend. The Nigerian player will perform individualized work in the coming days.”
