Crotone of Italy striker, Simeon Tochukwu Nwankwo (Simy) is staying with the club into the new season, after failing to get a new deal in the summer transfer window.
So much expectation had been on about ‘Simy’ leaving Crotone, following their relegation from Serie A and his outings with the Super Eagles at the World Cup in Russia, but the towering youngster could not seal a deal.
Subsequently, ‘Simy’ will stick it out with Crotone in Serie B this term, as he could not get a new deal elsewhere before the close of the transfer window on Friday.
The former Portugal-based tall striker will now play in the Italian second-tier until at least the January transfer window, if he is not loaned out or bought by another club outside Italy before the window closes elsewhere.
Simy was linked with possible moves to Frosinone, Sampdoria and SS Lazio before the close of the window in Italy, but the aforementioned teams went for other targets.
The former Portimonense and Gil Vicente of Portugal star has a deal with Crotone until the end of the 2018/19 season, meaning he can sign a pre-contract with an interested club in the next four months if he does not renew with his Serie B side.
