Six Eagles players tipped to fly

Date:

Nigeria will face Seychelles in the match day 2 of the African Cup of Nations (AFCON), reports Footballlive.ng.

Both sides will trade tackles at the 10,000 capacity stadium, Stade Linité situated at Roche Caiman in the outskirts of Victoria, the capital of Seychelles on September 7.

Footballlive.ng takes a look at the six players tipped to shine in the must-win game for the Super Eagles.

1. Ola Aina [Chelsea on loan to Torino]

This is the chance for “Mr Versatile” to show that he deserves his shirt in the Super Eagles squad. He is expected to be fielded at right back, with the absence of Shehu Abdullahi and Tyronne Ebuehi. Ola Aina will certainly prove his mettle in the away fixture.

2. Wilfred Ndidi [Leicester City]

The Leicester City enforcer needs no introduction to football fans. He will be one of the leaders at the middle of the park despite his young age.

3. Ahmed Musa [Al-Nassr]

Blessed with pace and mobility, the Al-Nassr marquee signing is one player that produces the goods when needed. He showed his quality at the 2018 FIFA World Cup in Russia, where he scored two goals for Nigeria.

4. Odion Ighalo [Changchun Yatai]

One can’t ignore the most in-form Nigerian striker abroad. His form for the Super Eagles has been far from encouraging. That doesn’t take away the fact that he still remains a leader and important component in the Super Eagles squad.

5. Samuel Kalu [Bordeaux]

The “Nigerian Messi” is a very skillful winger, capable of unlocking the meanest of defence line. With the retirement of Victor Moses and the unavailability of Moses Simon, the Aba boy should torment the Pirates at Stade Linité.

6. Kelechi Nwakali [Arsenal on loan to Porto B]

The Nwakali brothers are destined for greatness. Kelechi, who is the younger of the duo captained Nigeria to winning the 2015 U17 FIFA World Cup. He is progressing well, albeit on loan. With the withdrawal of John Mikel Obi, this is his time to shine and it will be on September 7.
