Solanke, Lookman Don’t Want Eagles’ Caps – Rohr

Date:

Super Eagles coach, Gernot Rohr has given up in his desire to have the Nigerian-born duo of Dominic Solanke and Ademola Lookman play for his team, as he says they both don’t want to switch allegiance.

With Liverpool’s Solanke and Everton’s Lookman still on the radar for senior caps with The Three Lions, both Merseyside players have been playing a cat and mouse game with Nigeria over the future.

Footballlive.ng can now report that Rohr has already concluded that the international future for Sonlanke and Lookman lies with England at full senior national team level.

Nigeria Football Federation have been trying to convince the two Liverpool-based players to switch allegiance to Eagles without success.

They are now both set to represent England at the 2019 UEFA European Under-21 Championship, around the same period the 2019 Africa Cup of Nations will hold, but Rohr says he is not bothered.

Rohr said: ”Ademola Lookman and Solanke are not convinced. They have not made up their minds so we will allow then to decide.

”We will go back to them later, but we cannot force anybody to play for us. It is very important decisions for them to make.”
