Solomon Ogbeide blames missed chances for Confederations Cup loss.

Date:

Head coach of Lobi Stars Solomon Ogbeide said his team had no reason to lose to home side UMS de Loum in the CAF Champions League preliminary stage first leg played in Cameroon on Wednesday but were guilty of wasting golden opportunities that would have delivered them with the maximum points.

A 64th minute solo goal from Jean Abadan decided the encounter as the home side took the day with a 1 – 0 win but Ogbeide is confident that with what he has seen, Lobi win convincingly win the return leg in Makurdi. “We know the way they play, we’ve seen their danger man, I didn’t expect the ball to beat my goalkeeper. We’ll go back home and regroup ahead of the return leg.”

The veteran coach also attributed the loss to chances missed during the match. “The boys played well in the game and I must say I am impressed with the performance just that we missed a lot of scoring chances which will be worked on before the next game. But I can assure you that we’ll roast them in Makurdi.”

The return leg will be played at the Aper Aku stadium in Makurdi on Tuesday December 4.
