Sone Aluko Seeks Golden Fleece In China

Date:

Former Super Eagles winger, Omatsone ‘Sone’ Aluko is set to join the growing band of Nigerian players plying their trade in China, as he is on the verge of a deal with Beijing Renhe.

Footballlive.ng can report that, though largely underachieving with Nigeria at both youth and senior levels, Aluko has always found his way around clubs in England and Scotland, but he is now set to leave the British Isle for the first time in his career.

The left-footed winger, who has previously played for Birmingham City, Aberdeen, Hamilton Academical, Glasgow Rangers, Blackpool, Hull City and Fulham, is set to move from English Championship side, Reading.

Aluko will in the coming hours complete a deal with Beijing Renhe, who are owned by Reading’s majority shareholders, Dai Yongge and Dai Xiu Li, which has facilitated an easier transition for the player.

Ahead of his trip to The Oriental Nation, Aluko was left out of Readings’ squad that suffered a 4-0 loss to Sheffield United last weekend, as The Royals prepared to free the 30-year-old star, who became their most expensive player ever when he arrived from Fulham.

Aluko’s move back then, in the summer of 2017, was for a transfer fee in the region of seven million pounds, and he went on to score four goals in 58 appearances for Reading in the English Championship.
