Nigerian goalkeeper Stanley Nwabali received a warm welcome at South African club Chippa United on Tuesday after his outstanding performance at the 2023 Africa Cup of Nations.
Hundreds of Chippa United fans greeted the 27-year-old at the Port Elizabeth Airport, where he took selfies with supporters and joined them in singing the club’s songs.
Nwabali, who impressed for Nigeria at AFCON 2023, has been linked with potential moves to Kaizer Chiefs and Union St Gilloise.
His return to Chippa United marks a celebratory reception after receiving cash gifts, a national honour, and a chieftaincy title in his hometown following the competition.
