Former Eagles and Julius Berger midfielder Edema Fuludu says the NPFL can bring good fortunes to players who stay long enough to prove their “mettle” like it was in his days.
Fuludu, who is currently the Vice Chairman of the Delta State Football Association argues that most players hastily leave the domestic scene in pursuit of greener pastures and nominal fame as foreign based.
The 1994 Africa Cup of Nations winner reiterated the need for footballer based in the country to hon their skills and fight their way into the national team like himself and others did in the past.
In recent times the likes of Stephen Odey, Aremu Azeez and Stephen Eze – players who starred on the local scene – left for Europe where they’ve also gained prominence with their teams.
