FC Zurich striker, Stephen Odey has set his sight on a bright resumption of action in the Swiss Super League, following his sterling burst of goals in mid-term friendlies with his club.
Odey was on song again at the weekend, as Zurich hit Flora Tallinn 4-1 and the former Mountain of Fire & Miracles Ministry (MFM) FC of Lagos youngster believes he can replicate such form against Saint Gallen when they tango a day after the regular season resumes on Saturday.
Footballlive.ng gathered that Odey is keen on adding to his goals haul in the match day 19 fixture, as his team are currently fourth placed on the table, with 25 points from 18 matches.
Odey’s side are way behind table topping Young Boys, who have 49 points on the log, while FC Basel are second with 30 and FC Thun third with 28 points, all from 18 matches each so far in the season.
Zurich and Thun are currently both in the UEFA Europa League positions, but Odey is thinking of helping his side in the UEFA Champions League, while also noting that Blessing Eleke’s fifth placed FC Luzern are only behind his side on goals difference, while St. Gallen have 23 points.
Odey and his pals will battle away to Gallen on Sunday, ahead of which the former home-based Eagles star is thinking only of victory, and a goal off his boots, to consolidate on both personal and collective strides.
Incidentally, Odey got an assist and a goal against the same team during the first round in November, as he pulled one back for Zurich in the 90th minute but they lost the game 3-2.
Odey retorted: “I thank God for the present form and I hope it continues this way and even better.
“I think the collective effort and team spirit of the team has contributed to this and hopefully we can get to achieve success as a team.”
