France will meet Uruguay in a 2018 FIFA World Cup quarter-final on Friday, and ahead of the encounter, Luis Suarez has hit back at Antoine Griezmann for certain comments he has made in the build-up to the fixture.
Speaking ahead of the clash, the Atletico Madrid man called Uruguay his “second country”, saying he loves the nation and has many close friends there, including club teammate Diego Godin.
Suarez, however, did not seem too pleased with the 27-year-old’s comments, insisting that Griezmann has no clue about how the country or football team operates.
“Antoine is saying that he is half-Uruguayan, but he is French and he doesn’t know what it is to feel Uruguayan,” he said, according to Marca.
“He doesn’t know who we are or what we must do to be successful in football.
“He enjoys our customs and can speak the same language, but we feel differently.”
Les Bleus will meet the Uruguayans at the Nizhny Novgorod Stadium to do battle for spot in the semi-finals at 16:00 SA time on Friday afternoon.
