Chairman Ondo State Football Agency (ODSFA), Tajudeen Akinyemi has hinted that Sunshine Stars is growing in character after they defeated Remo Stars to qualify to the finals of the Gold Cup Pre-Season Tournament in Akure.
“It was a splendid performance from the team as they are growing in character and improving as the matches came. This is not the Sunshine Stars of last season.
“Ending the semi final against Remo Stars with a player shot and going ahead the win on penalties.
“Kudos to Remo Stars as they gave the Owena Whales a good contest as from the blast of the whistle to end of the game, we saw quality football from both teams.
“We were lucky to have won the shoot out, so congrats to both teams.”
However there is still much to do in the team in terms of defending a goal and winning games. Though Coach Kabiru Dogo and his lads are less than two weeks old but with the needed support, discipline and hard work, Sunshine Stars will compete for a silverware this season.
The Owena Whales could claim their first silverware of the season if they beat Kwara Utd in the finals of the Gold Cup Tourney on Saturday in Akure.
