Sunshine Stars have secured their place in the Nigerian Premier Football League (NPFL) for next season after defeating Doma United 1-0 in a rescheduled match.
The game was initially postponed due to an accident involving the Northern team while traveling for the match but was finally played yesterday.
Yusuf Ibrahim scored the decisive goal for the Owena Waves seven minutes before halftime.
With this victory, Sunshine Stars moved to 10th position on the NPFL table, with 52 points from 37 games. Meanwhile, Doma United, who have only one win in their last 18 league games, remain in 18th position and are on the verge of relegation to the Nigeria National League (NNL).
The final games of the NPFL 2023–24 season will be played on Sunday.
