Super Eagles Aim for AFCON Glory; Nwabali’s Status Adds Drama to the Quarterfinal Clash

Date:

In the build-up to the Super Eagles’ quarter-final clash against Angola on Friday evening, both nations have exhibited strong performances in the tournament. The Super Eagles, now considered favorites after the elimination of the top five FIFA-ranked African countries, are aiming to secure their fourth AFCON title.

Coach Jose Peseiro anticipates the quarterfinal against Angola, stating, “One match in the quarterfinals is our second final; we played the first final the day before.” Recognizing the strength of Angola’s team, he emphasizes the importance of team consistency in both defenses, stating that attacking with 11 requires defending with 11.

In addressing the uncertain fitness of first-choice goalkeeper Nwabali for the upcoming match, Peseiro mentions, “We will conduct a final test, and if he is not fit, we will play Uzoho.” The Super Eagles face a crucial test against Angola, aiming to advance to the next stage of the competition.
