The Super Eagles camp in Kigali received a huge boost on Tuesday morning with the arrival of nine more players, including Ademola Lookman, the reigning African Footballer of the Year.
The Atalanta winger, who has been in outstanding form this season, joins the squad ahead of Nigeria’s crucial 2026 FIFA World Cup qualifiers against Rwanda and Zimbabwe.
Ademola Lookman has been one of the standout performers in Serie A, contributing to 18 league goals (13 goals, 5 assists) and 24 in all competitions for Atalanta in the 2024/2025 season.
He will be aiming to add to his 26 international caps when Nigeria faces Rwanda on March 22 and Zimbabwe on March 26.
New Arrivals Bolster Eagles’ Camp
Alongside Lookman, William Troost-Ekong, Wilfred Ndidi, Joe Aribo, Calvin Bassey, Igoh Ogbu, Said Umar, Bright Osayi-Samuel, Ola Aina, and Alex Iwobi also reported to camp, bringing the total number of players in Kigali to 21.
With only two players yet to arrive—Sadiq Umar and Alhassan Yusuf Abdullahi—the Super Eagles are closing in on full strength ahead of their opening World Cup qualifiers under Eric Chelle’s management.
