Remo Stars head coach and Super Eagles B boss, Daniel Ogunmodede, has dismissed concerns over the acceptance of Éric Sekou Chelle as Nigeria’s new national team head coach, insisting that no coach enjoys universal approval, even at the highest levels of football.
Speaking on the ongoing debate surrounding Chelle’s appointment, Ogunmodede explained that opinions will always differ, but ultimately, results will determine his acceptance among fans and stakeholders.
“In football, for me, there can’t be 100% acceptance of coaches. Even in Madrid, some will be happy the coach is coming, some will be happy he’s there, some will not be happy.”
”Even in my club, imagine, in Remo Stars, there are people that actually don’t like my direction of thinking is not theirs, and some are happy I am there.”
“Chelle’s Work Will Speak for Itself”
Daniel Ogunmodede stated that what truly matters is how much effort Chelle puts into the national team and how successful he becomes with the Super Eagles.
“So, his own is not different for me. Anybody can say whatever they want to say, but the most important thing is how much work he’s going to put into the national team m to be successful.”
”If he’s successful, everybody will be happy with him.”
“Winning Will Silence the Doubters”
For Ogunmodede, the focus should be on supporting the new coach to ensure the Super Eagles succeed, rather than debating who is happy with his appointment.
“For me, this is what we should be talking about. Whether someone is happy or not is not very important for me.”
”What is most important is the national team doing well under him.”
A Message to Nigerian Fans
As Chelle takes over the Super Eagles’ dugout, Ogunmodede’s message is that Winning solves everything.
If Chelle delivers strong performances and positive results, acceptance will naturally follow.
Now, all eyes turn to Chelle as he prepares for Nigeria’s crucial World Cup qualifiers in March.
