Super Eagles faces another injury blow in their preparations for the upcoming 2026 FIFA World Cup qualifiers against South Africa and Benin with Victor Osimhen and Bruno Onyemaechi the latest additions to their injury list.
Victor Osimhen reportedly missed Napoli’s training session on Monday following an injury sustained during their Serie A clash against Bologna over the weekend. Napoli’s official website reported that Osimhen underwent recovery work for a muscle strain, casting doubt over his availability for their upcoming league fixture against Fiorentina.
Meanwhile, left-back Bruno Onyemaechi has already been ruled out for the rest of the season due to a knee injury, reducing defensive options for the Super Eagles.
Adding to the injury concerns, AC Milan winger Samuel Chukwueze faces uncertainty for the upcoming matches due to an injury, further exacerbating the team’s injury woes.
The Super Eagles were already struggling with long-term injury absences of key players such as Moses Simon, Zaidu Sanusi, and Tyrone Ebuehi. However, there is a glimmer of hope as captain William Troost-Ekong has recently returned to training after undergoing surgery following the 2023 Africa Cup of Nations.
