Super Eagles goal machine admits Ideye was crucial to his form

Date:

A few years ago the Super Eagles struck gold, literally, with the strike partnership of Emmanuel Emenike and Brown Ideye and the former finished as top scorer in the 2013 Africa Cup of Nations.

Nigeria won the AFCON title; for the third time, and it was largely due to the partnership forged between the two forwards off the pitch as Emenike confirmed to Brila.net.   The ex Nigeria international described Ideye as, “a good friend even till this day.” ‘In the national team you might not have to many friends, but keep the ones you have close. I have a lot of friends in the team even now.   ‘I’m friends with Kenneth Omeruo and Brown Ideye. Ideye is a very close friend and our relationship off the pitch helped our understanding when we were together on it at the time,’ Emenike explained.   However, that partnership was broken when Ideye was dropped by Stephen Keshi for the 2014 FIFA World Cup and subsequent years until the international retirement of Emenike.
