The Super Eagles of Nigeria will be aiming for their first victory in the 2026 FIFA World Cup qualifying series as they face Benin Republic on Monday (today).
The team have yet to secure a win after playing three matches in Group C.
Their campaign began with a disappointing 1-1 home draw against Lesotho, followed by another 1-1 draw away to Zimbabwe on matchday two.
Last Friday’s 1-1 stalemate with South Africa marked their third consecutive draw in the group.
Currently, Finidi George’s side sits in fifth position in Group C.
Historically, the Super Eagles have a strong record against Benin Republic, having lost only once in 16 meetings, securing 13 wins and one draw. Their last encounter in March 2021 saw Nigeria triumph with a 1-0 victory over the Cheetahs.
Super Eagles will be looking to turn their fortunes around and secure a much-needed win to boost their chances of qualifying for the 2026 World Cup.
