Super Eagles Teammate’s Sends warm message to retired Carl Ikeme

Date:

On Friday, former Super Eagles goalkeeper Carl Ikeme bid an emotional farewell to football, a year on since he was diagnosed with acute leukemia and a month after announcing he was in full remission.

The 36-word on Friday Morning took the football world unaware and among the first reaction to the news of Ikeme’s retirement was his Nigerian teammate, Ahmed Musa.

Ikeme tweeted:

Thank you for the support over the years . My last day as a footballer. But one I am happy and great full for !!! Thanks to everyone to do with @wolves and everyone in football I have met. ????◼❤

The 32-year-old former goalkeeper received a message of support from ‘Baba Baby’ Ahmed Musa.

Reacting to the sudden news of Ikeme’s retirement, Musa tweeted:

We are going to miss u,wish u luck brother ????????????????????????

As at the time of publishing this story, no other Super Eagles player – or even the NFF – had joined the rest of the football world in their farewell messages to Ikeme.
