Super Eagles Update: We aren’t in South Africa to play for a draw – Rohr

Date:

Head coach of the Super Eagles, Gernot Rohr, has declared that his side are in South Africa for the maximum points against Bafana Bafana at the FNB Stadium on Saturday.

The Group E rivals in the 2019 Africa Cup of Nations (AFCON) Qualifier will be hoping to entertain fans in the epic match at the magnificent arena.

Nigeria will pick a ticket to Cameroon 2019 with at least one point in the day5 fixture but the Franco-German has other ideas for the game.

“We aren’t here for a draw which will be enough to qualify but we want to try to win,” the ex Gabon coach declared at a Press Gathering attended by Footballlive.ng.

“We have wonderful conditions to play, the players will enjoy.”

The coach shrugged off the loss of injured quartet Odion Ighalo, Shehu Abdullahi, Wilfred Ndidi and Francis Uzoho. He stated that those available will step up.

“We have the youngest team in Africa, even younger now.”

“We are missing four important players. Odion Ighalo, Shehu Abdullahi, Wilfred Ndidi and Francis Uzoho won’t play because of various degrees of injuries. I think the other players will do well.

“Mentally we are ready to play a good match. We have the experience of the World Cup. I am not new to the team. I have been in Nigeria since 2016. Now we have the opportunity to show that our young team is progressing. We have the spirit of playing quality football and have progressed at a high rate.”
