Super Falcons Hold 36th Position in Latest FIFA Rankings

Date:

Nigeria’s Super Falcons remain in 36th place in the latest FIFA Women’s World Rankings, released on August 16, 2024.

Their poor results and performance at the Paris Olympics reflected in their unchanged ranking position.

Nigeria struggled in the Olympics, finishing last in their group after defeats to Brazil (1-0), Spain (1-0), and Japan (3-1).

Super Falcons retained their spot as Africa’s top team, ahead of South Africa’s Banyana Banyana.

Zambia, Africa’s other Olympic representative in the competition stayed put at 62nd position even though they were without a point from their group games.

Emma Hayes’ United States reclaimed the top spot after winning Olympic gold, with silver medalist Brazil climbing to eighth place, and world champion, Spain dropped to third.

The next FIFA rankings will be released on December 20, 2024.
