The secretary-general of Nigeria Football Federation (NFF), Dr Mohammed Sanusi has disclosed that the players and coaches of the female national team,. Super Falcons are all determined to win next year’s FIFA Women World Cup in France.
Although many pundits believe the Falcons were not at their best in winning a ninth tile at the Africa Women Cup of Nations in Ghana, Sanusi said on the team’s arrival in Abuja that the players are eager to improve in the coming months and do better at the World Cup in 2019.
Footballive.ng gathered that Sanusi was joined in receiving the players on arrival from Ghana by Minister for Women Affairs, Hajiya Aisha Abubakar and other prominent political leaders in the country.
The NFF scribe used the moment to disclose the profound gratitude of Nigeria’s soccer governing body to the federal government, President Muhammadu Buhari and minister of sports, Barrister Solomon Dalung for helping the Falcons return home with a ninth AWCON title.
Sanusi said: “On behalf of the leadership of the NFF, we are grateful for the support from the Nigerian Government which has seen the team excel at the Cup of Nations.
“The girls have promised to do their best to represent the country very well at the 2019 FIFA Women’s World Cup.”
