Nigeria’s Supersand Eagles are set to return home by midnight on Tuesday after securing a first leg 5-4 win over Mauritania in their Beach Soccer Africa Cup of Nations qualifier.
In their first international match in five years, the team, led by Coach Abdullahi Isa, recorded their first win.
Emeka Ogbonna and Emmanuel Ohwoferia quickly put Nigeria ahead, but Mauritania fought back to lead. Veteran Victor Tale and Taiwo Adams ensured the Supersand Eagles won by scoring the winning goals.
The return leg will take place at Murtala Muhammed Square in Kaduna on Saturday afternoon.
