Taiwo Awoniyi Returns from Injury, Boosts Nottingham Forest Ahead Next Clash

Nigeria forward, Taiwo Awoniyi has given Nottingham Forest a boost in their upcoming match against Sheffield United.

Nottingham Forest, who are currently battling to avoid relegation and seek to secure vital points in their bid for survival.

Awoniyi has been sidelined due to injury for the past seven Premier League games. He returned to full training this week and is in contention to feature at Bramall Lane.

Forest manager Nuno Espirito Santo confirmed Awoniyi’s return to training stating the player’s potential contribution to the team ahead of their next feature.

Santo during an interview said “He (Awoniyi) was out all week. He started today with the group so let’s see if he has this positive feeling. I think he can help us.”

Santo continued, “He joined the team today, he had good feelings, we still have to wait for tomorrow to see how it goes. And if he feels okay like he felt today, I think he can help definitely with his experience, he’s a goalscorer.”

The Forest manager acknowledged that Awoniyi may not be at his peak fitness level yet but explained the striker’s importance to the squad during the crucial stage of the season. “We are aware and we know that he’s not in his top level but definitely a helpful player for us in these final moments,” Santo added.

Taiwo Awoniyi has made 13 starts across all competitions for Forest this season, contributing six goals and three assists.
