Taiwo Awoniyi’s goals saved Royal Excel Mouscron from relegation

Date:

Nigerian free-scoring forward Taiwo Awoniyi has stated that he is excited that his team Royal Excel Mouscron will remain in the Belgian Pro League next season with the confirmation that it will be impossible for them to relegate after several impressive wins in 2019 which sees the team move to the 10th position on the log on 32 points.

In the 2017/2018 season, Royal Excel Mouscron finished 14th on the table with a total of 30points all season and recorded just eight wins but with four games to the end of the current season, the team has surpassed their feat last term currently sitting on the 10th position on 32 points after 26 games winning nine times with five draws and 12 losses.

The signing of Awoniyi in January has helped the team stay up in the league as they have succeeded in winning all five games played so far in the league in 2019 including victories over three teams in the top 8 and beating table-toppers Genk away from home where Awoniyi scored in the 90th minute.

Celebrating the team staying up in the league Awoniyi said the feat was well deserved also appreciating the fans for their support; “happy will be back in the Jupiler league next season. Well deserved for the City and the amazing people and supporters of Mouscron.”

Awoniyi has scored four times in five matches in 2019 and will be hoping to increase the tally when they face bottom side Lokeren at home on Saturday.
