Aston Villa striker, Tammy Abraham’s emergence as English Championship player of the month for November has shored up a higher level of desire for the club to keep him in January.
Abraham’s parent club, Chelsea, have shown that they want him back early from his loan spell at Villa Park, but footballlive.ng gathered that officials of the Birmingham-based lower division side are keen on keeping him till the summer.
In the wake of Abraham being named player of the month on Friday, Villa boss, Dean Smith is full of praise for the England B-team striker.
Villa are preparing for a derby with local rivals West Bromwich Albion this wekend, and Smith says he is not worried that Chelsea might recall Abraham in January, as he is doing a good job of what is expected of him.
Smith said: “With the form he’s in, it would be amiss of them not to try and nullify his threat.
“But we’ve got a lot of firepower all over the place. Our goals are coming from everywhere so it’s not just all about Tammy.
“Obviously he looks like he’s enjoying his football right now, but with seven goals in four games, he would be wouldn’t he?
“He’s got the potential to play at the very top level. The lad has got a bit of everything.
“He’s playing games and he’s scoring goals and that’s what he came he came here for.
“He scores with headers, left foot, right foot. He’s been spot on. I see no reason not to see him continue here.”
