The 11 Managers With The Most Trophies in Europe

Date:

With Pep Guardiola having lifted the 24th trophy of his managerial career on Sunday, he is now just one piece of silverware short of longstanding rival Jose Mourinho’s haul. Here are the 11 most successful coaches in Europe.

The Spaniard’s Manchester City lifted the FA Community Shield after beating last year’s FA Cup winners Chelsea 2-0 on the weekend.

It was his third title since joining the Citizens in 2016, and the 24th overall of his managerial career so far. In addition to his trophies with City, he also lifted 14 with FC Barcelona and seven with Bayern Munich.

Guardiola is now just one trophy short of longstanding rival Mourinho, who has lifted 25 pieces of silverware with FC Porto, Chelsea, Real Madrid, Inter Milan and Manchester United.

Overall, Guardiola and Mourinho sit in seventh and sixth place, respectively, among the most successful managers in Europe.

Former Dunfermline and Celtic boss Jock Stein is the next in the ranking with 26 titles, followed by ex-Borussia Dortmund and Bayern Munich coach Ottmar Hitzfeld, who appears in fourth spot with 28 titles to his name.

Valeriy Lobanovskyi, with 29 trophies, Mircea Lucescu, with 32 titles, and legendary Manchester United boss Sir Alex Ferguson, who lifted an incredible 48 pieces of silverware with the Red Devils and Aberdeen, lead the ranking.
