The pride of Benue loss by a slim victory in Cameroon.

Date:

The pride of Benue fell 1-0 to UMS de Loum of Cameroon in a 2019 CAF Champions League preliminary round, first leg match played in Yaounde yesterday .

The home team, who are making their first international debut, applied constant pressure from the first whistle, but the Lobi Stars defence held out until the 64 minute, when Jean Abadan netted the match winner with a solo effort.
Lobi Stars chased the game thereafter with Alex Aghahowa failing to draw his team level late in the second half.
Striker Samad Kadiri would also have restored his team’s image with a flying header in stoppage time but somehow he failed to hit the target.
Lots of expectations are pointing towards Lobi Stars to overturn this result when both teams battles again in Makurdi in a week’s time.
