Theophilus Afelokahi was left behind in Aba for the clash in Gombe against Kano Pillars FC for a place in the AITEO Cup Semifinals after he was unable to shake off the injury he picked up in Enyimba International’s home loss to Raja Casablanca in the CAF Confederation Cup.
The Enyimba International keeper speaking to www.footballive.ng on why he was unable to join the rest of the squad to Gombe said, “I couldn’t make the trip due to the injury i sustained in the last match against Raja Casablanca.”
Theophilus went on to say he was willing to continue the game against Raja Casablanca playing through the pains but the magnitude of the match meant he could not and he was left disappointed that it ended in defeat.
Enyimba International attention now has been shifted to AITEO Cup where they look to upstage Kano Pillars in Gombe to book a Semifinal date with Katsina United in Lagos.
He concluded by speaking on the upcoming semifinal clash in Gombe, saying, “It is in no way going to be an easy match because Kano Pillars are a big club with a lot of good players but by God Grace at the end we will win the match come on Sunday.”
