Derby County summer signing on loan from Chelsea, Fikayo Tomori received great words of praise from The Rams’ coach, Frank Lampard, following a glorious debut at the weekend.
With the Nigerian-born Canada youth international stepping up at the word go, Lampard was all cheers for the lad who he prised away from the club he starred for during his active days.
Tomori was signed by The Rams on a season-long loan from Chelsea six days ago and was handed a full debut by Lampard, despite question marks over his fitness.
The Chelsea legend had to field Tomori after The Rams’ skipper, Curtis Davies suffered an injury in training ahead of the clash at Pride Park Stadium.
It meant the 20-year-old Tomori has now totalled 35 appearances in the Championship, following previous outings for Brighton and Hull City.
Afterwards, Lampard said Tomori performed well, in spite of his team’s 4-1 loss to Leeds United on match day two in the EFL Championship on Saturday.
Lampard stated: ”I thought he did well. It was a difficult game for him to come into. He had very little game-time under his belt pre-season at Chelsea, so I thought he did well.”
